Mordant Green 52 - Introduction
5-(Acetylamino)-4-hydroxy-3-[(2-hydroxy-5-nitrophenyl)azo]-2,7-napthalenedisulfonic acid disodium salt is a compound commonly known by the abbreviation AcHANA.
Properties: AcHANA is a yellow to orange powder. It dissolves well in water, but is poorly soluble in organic solvents. It is relatively stable under acidic conditions, but is susceptible to hydrolysis under alkaline conditions.
use: AcHANA is an important organic dye, often used in biomedical research and analytical chemistry analysis reagent. It can be used to determine the presence and concentration of iron ions, and also to determine the content of various other metal ions.
Preparation method: A commonly used preparation method is to couple 4-aminophenol and 5-Nitro salicylic acid under alkaline conditions to generate azo dyes, it is then reacted with 2-naphthalenesulfonic acid under acidic conditions to form AcHANA. The resulting AcHANA hydrochloride form was neutralized to give AcHANA disodium salt.
Safety information: AcHANA is not significantly toxic or dangerous to humans and the environment under normal conditions of use. However, as a compound, it may present a risk of allergic reactions in some people or people with a history of specific allergies. During use, standard laboratory procedures should be followed and contact with eyes, skin and mouth should be avoided. If there is any discomfort or accident, immediately call for help. Depending on the individual nature and use of the chemical, store and handle it properly in appropriate equipment and environment.
